Boy Scout GroupCalifornia Rock Guides and SWS Mountain Guides have a long history of working with both the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America. Whether it has been climbing Mt Shasta (Boys’ Life November 2011), teaching avalanche courses or teaching the Rock Climbing Merit Badge we can help you develop a program for your group.

Our rock climbing merit badge program is a two-day class that focuses on completing the technical aspects of the merit badge.  This includes rock climbing, rappelling, belaying, equipment use, and communication.

We have a long history with the Boy Scouts of America.  Owner Tim Keating got his start in mountaineering through his Venture Crew in Southern California.  Owner JB Brown got his start in climbing through Troop 599 where he earned his Eagle Scout in 1996.   Because of these ties, SWS has been providing group trips for not just rock climbing but also mountaineering, backcountry skiing and more.
